When the TV cable is properly adjusted the movement of the TV plunger in the valve body is calibrated to the movement of the fuel delivery system. This means the transmission will always have the correct oil pressure and shift feel regardless of engine torque. If a change is made, such as a different carburetor installed, the change in geometry could disrupt this balance and proper adjustment may never be achieved. Many people try to defeat the self-adjusting TV cable and tailor shift points of shift feel.
However, remember that on the R4 and R Transmission the TV cable controls both shift feel clutch apply pressure and shift points, you therefore cannot alter one without altering the other. We own a Saab SE 6 cylinder 4-door sedan. This information may not be at all applicable to other Saab models. Immediately before our Christmas vacation trip to Denver and Scotts Bluff, Nebraska in , I noticed automatic transmission fluid had been leaking. Not a huge amount, but enough that I didn’t want to have to worry about it during our trip.
A little bit of investigation revealed that the washers on the banjo bolt that secure the oil cooler line to the top fitting on the radiator had gone bad. I scrounged around in my stash and found some suitable temporary sealing washers. But then in mid-January, I began seeing fresh spots of transmission fluid on the garage floor. I looked carefully at all the washers on all 4 banjo bolts that secure both oil cooler lines Must be the automatic transmission oil cooler lines themselves, as they were pretty soaked with fluid with no other visible source.
I ordered replacement hoses from my favorite Saab parts supplier: But, they didn’t show the special washers for the banjo bolts on their web site. The washers are a perfect fit, work perfectly, and are a lot less expensive.

So let me know if this will work on my Tahoe she has the 5. I have to take issue with running rubber cooler lines all the way from the transmission to the cooler.
This is a no no and not recommended. I have seen this done before and they just do not hold up to the elements. The rubber lines will get hard over a year or two and crack. Also they tend to rub through wherever they touch metal.

Aug 24, · Installed a new Spectra Radiator today in the 05 Rubicon automatic. Problem is the transmission lines are the wrong size. After I discovered this at a 10pm when I was hooking everything back up, I read Jeep changed the size of the connection.
Allen, are they leaking at the front under the radiator? I know these lines have a rubber section in this area. If so, I would not consider replacing the entire line. I would simply get some good trans cooler line and cut off the ends of the metal lines and replace the rubber portion. Many vehicles come from the factory with screw style clamps on the trans lines.
There is not a great deal of pres to worry about and if you are, slide the new hose over the metal line about 2 inches and use 2 clamps. Tighten the clamps until you begin to see rubber protruding through the slots in the clamps and you are done. The only thing you need to be careful of is make sure you clean off any small metal pieces that would be left over from cutting off the ends of the lines.
If you use a tubing cutter, you really have no worry. I know this sounds like a “shade tree fix” but if this is where your leak is, I would not even think about replacing the entire line. This is exactly the location of the leak. It’s only very slight and there is no accumulation on the ground so I may leave this for awhile and then try your suggestion.
