Transformers and Long-Distance Power Transmission Transformers are devices which use mutual induction to change the voltage and current of an AC circuit. Increase voltage via a step-up transformer at an electrical station near the power plant, up to maybe , volts. Send electricity long distance over high-voltage transmission lines. Decrease voltage at a local substation via a step-down transformer to perhaps 3, volts. Send electricity a few miles via “telephone poles” or underground cables.

Heat is by far the number one killer of transmissions. It affects them all the same. Ideally you want to keep your transmission temperature under a maximum of degrees.

They differ in the fact that the 4L60E is fully electronic. The R4 is not. The 4L60E also did away with the troublesome TV cable. The 4L60E is available for both two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive vehicles. It first went into production in and was eventually phased out of use at the end of the model year.

A telephone, or phone, is a telecommunications device that permits two or more users to conduct a conversation when they are too far apart to be heard directly. A telephone converts sound, typically and most efficiently the human voice, into electronic signals that are transmitted via cables and other communication channels to another telephone which reproduces the sound to the receiving user.

The TV cable on the R4 and R transmissions controls line pressure, shift points, shift feel, part throttle downshifts, and detent full throttle downshifts. So if the TV cable is not adjusted properly, it can cause numerous transmission problems. The TV cable is connected to and operates the throttle lever, and bracket assembly mounted on the valve body.

The function of the throttle lever and bracket assembly I to transfer the movements of the throttle plate in the carburetor to the TV plunger in the valve body. This causes TV pressure and line pressure to increase according to throttle opening and also controls modulated and detent downshifts. The proper adjustment of the TV cable is based on the TV plunger being fully depressed with the engine at wide-open throttle see figure 9.

When the TV cable is properly adjusted the movement of the TV plunger in the valve body is calibrated to the movement of the fuel delivery system. This means the transmission will always have the correct oil pressure and shift feel regardless of engine torque. If a change is made, such as a different carburetor installed, the change in geometry could disrupt this balance and proper adjustment may never be achieved. Many people try to defeat the self-adjusting TV cable and tailor shift points of shift feel.

However, remember that on the R4 and R Transmission the TV cable controls both shift feel clutch apply pressure and shift points, you therefore cannot alter one without altering the other. Let’s discuss briefly what happens when someone tailors the TV cable: If you shorten the cable move it towards the adjuster tab , this raises both one pressure and shift point. However, when the drive performs a full throttle downshift the TV cable will readjust to its approximate normal position.

Jan 29,  · When I bought a GM tranny cooler I had to hook my lines up to it. I looked and saw that I could not get to the lines with out dropping the tranny on .

We own a Saab SE 6 cylinder 4-door sedan. This information may not be at all applicable to other Saab models. Immediately before our Christmas vacation trip to Denver and Scotts Bluff, Nebraska in , I noticed automatic transmission fluid had been leaking. Not a huge amount, but enough that I didn’t want to have to worry about it during our trip.

A little bit of investigation revealed that the washers on the banjo bolt that secure the oil cooler line to the top fitting on the radiator had gone bad. I scrounged around in my stash and found some suitable temporary sealing washers. But then in mid-January, I began seeing fresh spots of transmission fluid on the garage floor. I looked carefully at all the washers on all 4 banjo bolts that secure both oil cooler lines Must be the automatic transmission oil cooler lines themselves, as they were pretty soaked with fluid with no other visible source.

I ordered replacement hoses from my favorite Saab parts supplier: But, they didn’t show the special washers for the banjo bolts on their web site. The washers are a perfect fit, work perfectly, and are a lot less expensive.

Transmission cooler kits usually come with all the necessary tools, hardware and directions to install it yourself. First, you’ll want to consider exactly where you want to mount your transmission cooler — there’s not exactly a specific spot inside your engine compartment where you’re required to place it, so you’re given a little room to be creative; however it’s still important to place it somewhere where you’ll get the most efficiency out of the cooler.

If you mount your transmission cooler behind your bumper, for example, there’s little chance of it being very efficient since it relies heavily on airflow. Mounting the cooler in front of the radiator and the air conditioning condenser is typically considered the best place.

This article is specific to the Mustang. With minor changes, it can be used to complete the same swap on a Mustang. I chose to do this swap for three reasons.

What is Impedance, Anyway? As you probably know if you’ve been shopping for cables, coax for most video applications is “75 ohm” coax–but what the heck does that mean, anyway? This article is a short, non-technical explanation of impedance, and its significance in video and other circuitry, for those who have always scratched their heads at this one. Every signal input, and every output, has an impedance–this “impedance” represents the relationship between voltage and current which a device is capable of accepting or delivering.

But it’s hard to talk about electrons flying around in wire, and volts and amps, without making the whole subject seem abstract and obscure. Let’s think about another situation with which we’re all familiar: An automobile engine can put out a certain amount of power–horsepower, we call it. But the engine, itself, isn’t the only thing in the drive train. Between the engine and the road lies the transmission, and a transmission controls the relationship between the speed at which the wheels turn and the power which the wheels are capable of delivering at that speed.

When a car is in first gear, it can’t go very fast, but the rotational force torque delivered to the wheels is very high. For certain types of road, this is just what we need:

How do I hook up oil cooler line to radiator?

Use Correct Flexplate Size Most common flexplate sizes for C4 transmissions are tooth left and tooth right. Each calls for its own bellhousing size. This block plate fits and tooth applications. Use Transmission Fluid Service the torque converter with 1 or 2 quarts of transmission fluid prior to converter installation. This primes the pump and gets prompt lubrication to transmission internals on start-up.

FordAssasin Member Love It!! My buddy did the same thing on his dodge van i know dodge uuugghhh haha but im curious on this mod working for my 99′ Tahoe,I have a trans temp gauge on order but i would like to add the aux cooler for the tranny and give my radiator a break. So let me know if this will work on my Tahoe she has the 5. I have to take issue with running rubber cooler lines all the way from the transmission to the cooler.

This is a no no and not recommended. I have seen this done before and they just do not hold up to the elements. The rubber lines will get hard over a year or two and crack. Also they tend to rub through wherever they touch metal.

Utilities want big Minnesota power line delayed

If you’ve ever wondered what those wires are, typically these are lines from telephone, cable television and power companies. Each company maintains responsibility for their own line. Utility poles consist of three distinct layers or spaces.

Twin-lead generally has higher impedance than the other common transmission wiring, coaxial cable coax. Twin lead and other types of parallel-conductor transmission line are mainly used to connect radio transmitters and receivers to their antennas. Parallel transmission line has the advantage that its losses are an order of magnitude smaller than that of coaxial cable , the main alternative form of transmission line. Its disadvantages are that it is more vulnerable to interference , and must be kept away from metal objects which can cause power losses.

For this reason, when installed along the outside of buildings and on antenna masts, standoff insulators must be used. It is also common practice to twist the twin lead on long free standing lengths to further reject any induced imbalances to the line. Twin-lead is also used in amateur radio stations as a transmission line for balanced transmission of radio frequency signals.

How it works[ edit ] A to ohm balun , showing twin-lead on the right hand side Twin lead is a form of parallel-wire balanced transmission line. The separation between the two wires in twin-lead is small compared to the wavelength of the radio frequency RF signal carried on the wire. Similarly, any interfering external radio waves will induce equal, in phase RF currents, traveling in the same direction, in the two wires.

Since the load at the destination end is connected across the wires, only differential, oppositely-directed currents in the wires create a current in the load. Thus the interfering currents are canceled out, so twin lead does not tend to pick up radio noise.

Aug 24,  · Installed a new Spectra Radiator today in the 05 Rubicon automatic. Problem is the transmission lines are the wrong size. After I discovered this at a 10pm when I was hooking everything back up, I read Jeep changed the size of the connection.

Allen, are they leaking at the front under the radiator? I know these lines have a rubber section in this area. If so, I would not consider replacing the entire line. I would simply get some good trans cooler line and cut off the ends of the metal lines and replace the rubber portion. Many vehicles come from the factory with screw style clamps on the trans lines.

There is not a great deal of pres to worry about and if you are, slide the new hose over the metal line about 2 inches and use 2 clamps. Tighten the clamps until you begin to see rubber protruding through the slots in the clamps and you are done. The only thing you need to be careful of is make sure you clean off any small metal pieces that would be left over from cutting off the ends of the lines.

If you use a tubing cutter, you really have no worry. I know this sounds like a “shade tree fix” but if this is where your leak is, I would not even think about replacing the entire line. This is exactly the location of the leak. It’s only very slight and there is no accumulation on the ground so I may leave this for awhile and then try your suggestion.
